Through a variety of activities, the boys in the Junior School have the opportunity to contribute to our House program. These activities can range from public speaking to sporting events, chess debating or our most recent event – House Singing.

On Wednesday 20 September, all boys from Year 3 to Year 6 experienced the annual House Singing Competition, having an opportunity to demonstrate choral singing and stage performance. Over the term, the boys have worked in their Houses to develop an understanding of their individual songs and how the songs can be pieced together as a performance.

This year, the Heads of House each chose a song from a different genre:

Alliston Jones             “California Dreaming”
Brooks                        “Gold”
Clayton-Dyer             “Nothing Else Matters”
Stokes-Ware              “Everlong”
Year 3 item                “Heart and Soul Medley”

Following the success of last years ‘revamped’ model of House Singing, the four Heads of House (Mr Athanasiou, Mr Clutton, Mr Shigrov and Mr Tirrell), together with Ms Sedgley and myself added some minor adjustments to the presentation which was staged in Memorial Hall. Overall, the presentation was very successful and the boys performed with enthusiasm and a sense of enjoyment.

Congratulations to the winning House – Alliston-Jones who were awarded the House Singing trophy for their performance.
